DL Hall attended Valdosta High School in Valdosta, Georgia, as a freshman before transferring to Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. In the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft, the Baltimore Orioles selected DL Hall in the first round, 21st overall. A standout pitcher was considered one of the top prep prospects leading up to the 2017 MLB Draft. Despite limited action during his professional debut in 2017, Hall was regarded as one of Baltimore’s top prospects entering the 2018 season, and he lived up to that high expectation with a phenomenal year.
After signing with the Orioles, he was assigned to the Gulf Coast League Orioles. In 2019, Hall played for the Frederick Keys and was named to the All-Star Futures Game. His development was slowed in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 season was also shortened for DL Hall due to an elbow injury. Despite his setbacks over the past two years, Hall was added to the 40-man roster on November 19, 2021. After starting the 2022 season on Baltimore’s development list, DL Hall was promoted to the Norfolk Tides in May. He has spent the majority of the 2022 season in Triple-A, making only a few starts so far. As a result, the Orioles may decide to keep him in the minors for a bit longer to gain more experience and return to full strength.
DL Hall began the 2023 season with Triple-A Norfolk. After a strong performance in the minors, he was promoted to the major leagues on August 26 with the Orioles, where he quickly made an impact with his impressive pitching skills. Upon his promotion, he immediately contributed to the team’s success, delivering several key performances that solidified his place in the rotation. His ability to strike out batters and maintain composure in high-pressure situations has been particularly noteworthy, earning him praise from both teammates and coaches. Hall’s journey from the minor leagues to making a mark in the majors exemplifies his resilience and determination to excel at the highest level.
DL Hall’s First Inning Strikeout
After more than two months of the 2024 season, DL Hall has settled in with the new baseball club. Hall is set to get plenty of action this year as the Milwaukee Brewers‘ second starter after being traded from the Orioles in the deal that sent Corbin Burnes to Baltimore.
The start of DL Hall’s tenure with the Brewers could have been better. The trade, which saw the Brewers lose Corbin Burnes from their rotation, has left the team in a precarious situation. Hall’s early-season struggles with command and consistency have led to several rough outings.
