There is a paradoxical dilemma in college and professional sports. We must transform this losing team into a winning team. However, achieving a real long-term transformation takes time. That is the dilemma. It’s time we do not have.
But there is a solution, and it lies in the power of creating small wins. The key is to consistently demonstrate progress from loser to winner in the first year or two to maintain the momentum of our transformation.
In sports, it could be as simple as a good practice followed by a second good practice. It may increase revenue in the fiscal year’s first quarter. Stacking these created wins on top of one another delivers the trust needed to sustain success.
Long-term success requires creating short-term small wins compounded over time. We are all a work in progress so purposely generate those small wins in your life.
